The Toledo Rockets can all but clinch a spot in the Mid-American Conference Championship Game if they can beat defending West Division champion Northern Illinois in college football’s lone Tuesday game this week. Toledo opened as a 7-point favorite on Bodog’s NCAA football odds.

Toledo (5-3, 4-0 MAC) has won four in a row, with its only losses this season coming to BCS schools Ohio State, Boise State and Syracuse. The Rockets can put a hammerlock on the West Division with a win as they will effectively have a two-game lead over the rest of the division, as Eastern Michigan (5-3, 3-1), which is tied with NIU for second in the division, had its lone MAC loss to the Rockets.

Northern Illinois (5-3, 3-1) enters on a three-game winning streak. That third win was a bit fortunate, as back on Oct. 22 the Huskies blew a 31-10 lead to Buffalo, only to win when the Bulls’ kicker missed the tying extra point with 14 seconds remaining. QB Chandler Harnish leads the MAC in total offense (304.4 yards per game), averaging 89.0 yards rushing and 212.1 yards passing per game. Earlier this year he became the 10th player in NCAA history to rush and throw for over 200 yards in a gamed in NIU’s 51-22 rout of Western Michigan. The Huskies rank first in the MAC in total offense, averaging 463.4 yards per game.

Toledo is 18-2 all-time at home vs. NIU. The Huskies did win at home last year, 65-30, but UT has dominated the series of late, winning 14 of the last 17 games dating back to 1990.
